Using a clothesline is a great save on energy costs, gives your clothes a fresh smell, and helps protect the environment. While dryers do have their place, on a good weather day it’s a good option to air dry laundry outside. We’ve pulled together a great list of clotheslines for you to consider.
Household Essentials All-Purpose Cotton Clothesline
The simplest of all clothesline
Traditionally when you think of a clothesline, this is what you think of; a cotton line stretched across your yard. While this is incredibly cheap and works very well under the tension of lots of clothes, it isn't something you will want to get wet in the rain. Cotton will get mold and mildew very fast if you aren't careful.
Newraturner2 Pack Portable Clothesline
The bungie cord is easy to hang
If you are on the move, touring the country in your RV, you will want to be able to quickly and easily put up and take down your clothesline. At a little over 10 feet, it isn't going to be hanging a family of four's clothes, but there are two in the pack and they do come with the pegs as part of the line. For camping or RV's these are the perfect way to keep those clothes aired.
Wellington Cltheslne Pvc
Great for clothes umbrellas
Extruded PVC has many advantages over a standard rope cord. It is much better at surviving the elements and doesn't collect mold or mildew as cotton does. The only issue I find is it tends to lose its tension over time as it stretches. This clothesline has a synthetic rope core to help mitigate that somewhat but it is still better used as a replacement for your clothesline umbrella, rather than stretched over your yard.
Air it all out
Why you can trust Real Homes
Clothesline cord is such a basic household item you sometimes forget they aren't all created equally. If you are going to put your clean washing on a line you need to know it isn't going to make them dirty again!
If you are looking for something a little lighter and more traditional then the Household Essentials All-Purpose Cotton Clothesline is likely to be an excellent choice. Even though it will need a little care to make sure it doesn't attract mold, it is a simple solution to the clothesline problem.
