Having a utility cart in your home is helpful for every occasion. Whether you need an extra surface in your kitchen, or an easily movable "crafting trolley for kids" a utility cart makes your life more mobile and often more organised. We've used countless different carts in our quest to find the best, and here is our favourite list!

Best overall

Alvorog 3-tier rolling cart

Great for the kitchen and the study

When it comes to versatility, the Alvorog rolling cart is my personal favourite. The bottom two trays and fairly standard — helpful for putting in anything you can imagine; from fruit to books — but it's the top shelf that really makes it shine.

This cart comes with helpful partitions that makes separating the things you need much easier, and the hookable pots over the side are perfect for paintbrushes, and spatulas alike. It's so versatile.

Best for kitchen

It's like a mini kitchen island

If you are looking for something to help you create more space in your kitchen, then you should look at this kitchen cart from Homcom. The metal baskets are perfect for storing fruits and vegetables while the side shelves are perfect for olive oils and vinaigrettes. We like to use it for making cheese boards as the draw can hold our knives safely and the top surface is big and stable enough for a cutting board.

Best for crafts

Kingrack storage trolley

Perfect for all of your art supplies

The metal pegboard on the side of this utility cart makes it perfect for arts and crafts. I do a lot of work with a Cricut vinyl cutter, and this trolley is perfect for the assorted tools, vinyl, and books that come with using a crafty machine. It works well as is very stable.

Best industrial look

A more mobile shelf

Industrial design is all the rage now, so it's a good idea to have a utility cart to match. This cart has a strong MDF top as well as wire shelving and can be used easily in any setting. It would make a great work surface for a kitchen or a workshop.

Best foldable

Dripex storage trolley cart

Spacious for when you need it, foldable for when you don't

Having a utility cart when you need one is great, but what do you do with it when you don't need it right then? You buy a foldable cart like this one that's what. This is sturdy and extremely comfortable to push around, but it can be folded away in moments and takes up very little space once it is.

I never knew I needed a rolling utility cart until I started getting into creative arts. Having my tools on a cart that can move from 3D printer to 3D printer makes every part of working in my workshop easier. I especially like the Alvorog 3-tier rolling cart as it has the little cups that hang from the side, as well as dividers to keep my tools organized.
