Let us introduce you to the Ikea picture ledge. Oh, it's so much more than just a picture ledge, because of course Ikea never make anything that isn't multi-purpose, it's why we love them so much, and their humble picture shelves are no different.
Keep on scrolling to see some of the amazing ways you can put them to use in every room of your home and if you are a sucker for an Ikea hack, there's plenty more where this came from in our dedicated feature.
1. Use an Ikea picture ledge for hallway storage
Got a small hallway? Or not even a small hallway, just a hallway that could benefit from a little bit of extra storage? Ikea picture ledges are great for creating a space to keep bags, hats, umbrellas, keys, wallets and if you style it right it could become a feature in your hallway too. Here the Mosslanda picture ledge has been used; it costs just a fiver and they come in a few different sizes.
2. Use them to create interest in a bedroom
Want to add some texture and interest to your bedroom, a really easy way to do this is to style up some picture ledges. Just see them like open shelving except they don't stick out as much so perfect for small rooms or if you want them to be hung over a bed.
3. Use as a home for your houseplants
If your houseplant collection is getting a bit out of control and you are struggling to find the best way to display them, the answer is picture ledges. Plants look fab dangled off the edges and growing around frames and books, very cool but so easy to do. Here the plain, simple Malmback ledges have been used, again just £5!
4. Use as open shelving in a kitchen
Love the look of open plan shelving in a kitchen? Get the look cheaply and quickly using picture ledges! The Maleras ledges are wide enough to display some of you best crockery but won't take up as much room as a full on shelf so perfect for over a counter.
5. Use as some handy bathroom storage
The Mellosa picture ledge is perfect for bathroom storage because it's transparent so won't visually interrupt the space. They work perfectly above the sink for keeping toothbrushes, your most used toiletries, pretty bathroom accessories and not forgetting paintings of grumpy looking women.

6. Or just use them as a picture ledge
And lastly you could just use Ikea picture ledges as, well, picture ledges. They are great if you like the look of gallery walls but don't want to go drilling a million holes into your wall. You can just hang a few ledges and layer up loads of prints.
