9 cozy New England Airbnbs that'll make you so excited for fall

New England really shows off in the fall, with its beautiful leaf peeping, charming activities (hello cider houses and maple farms), and rustic decor. From Connecticut to Northern Maine, Airbnb has some seriously Instagram-worthy stays.

If you're able to escape this fall, keep in mind that you may need to quarantine for 14 days if you're visiting from outside of the Northeast. Thankfully, these spots have so much to offer, you won't want to leave.

Scandinavian Providence apartment

Tucked in the heart of Providence, Rhode Island, this Scandinavian-inspired apartment is housed in a Gothic-style Victorian manse. Inside, leather and suede upholstery is accompanied by cozy sheepskin and braided textile throws throughout. The kitchen features sage green cabinetry with simple gold finishes, accompanied by a butcher block table for meals. If you have to quarantine, this modern home in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, managed by Vacasa, is the place to do it. The sprawling estate is home it its own indoor pool and hot tub, and the foliage views from the second floor are something to call home about. There are several gas and wood-burning fireplaces, an expansive kitchen, and a private gas grill outside. 

If you venture out, you'll have direct access to trails for hiking or four-wheeling. 

Antique Litchfield farmhouse

Tucked in the hills of Litchfield, Connecticut, this antique 1793 farmhouse has inspiration in spades. Throughout, spot 18th-century details like wide-timbered floors, exposed beams, and tiny nooks. The house sits on a 16 acre plot, and in early fall you can enjoy an outdoor pool situated next to the property's historic barn. On chilly days, take in the vibrant leaf colors from the enclosed porch. 

Dover-Foxcroft canoe shop

This historic Maine canoe shop has been transformed into a luxury cabin abode. The 120-year-old cottage has an antique cast iron soaking dub, loft bedroom, and floating staircase. Outside, enjoy beautiful grounds and a large granite fire pit. True to its historic roots, the interiors are decorated with vintage antiques like a long velvet sofa and club chair. The kitchen is outfitted with black wood paneling, butcher block countertops, and a roomy slate sink. 

Historic Wilmington farmhouse

With a large fire pit, private gas grill, and ample picnic tables, this charming farmhouse in Wilmington, Vermont, is primed for outdoor entertainment through the fall. The ranch-style home is located on a 100-acre farm. (Retired farmer and his wife live on a separate farmhouse on the grounds.) Boating, kayaking, swimming, and canoeing are available at Harriman Reservoir and Lake Raponda just 10 minutes away. 

Wellfleet Creek cottage

Perched directly on Duck Creek in Wellfleet, Massachusetts, hosts call this cottage "social distancing made easy." The space was built by oyster purveyor and author Earl Rich post World War II. In recent decades, it has been home to writer and historian Evarts Cecil Erickson and artist/author Janet Doub Erickson. 

It's easy to see why there's so much inspiration here, with Old World charm and views of the harbor including blue herons and osprey fish. Outside, warm up from cool evenings by a crackling fire.

Private Middleton cabin

Located in rural Middleton, New Hampshire, this enchanting cabin is secluded about one mile from the main road. It has all the charm you'd expect from an authentic log cabin, tucked on six acres. There's a private pond stocked with bass and trout for fishing, and you can use the small rowboat to scout fish below. 

Enjoy the turning leaves from the spacious front porch, or if it's warm enough, take a dip in the on-site pool.
