Instagram is already getting seriously festive and it's filled with so many gorgeous Christmas decor trends that are SO 2020. And yes, to clarify, we have started planning how we are going to deck our halls this year, and Instagram is our go-to place to get inspired.
So we thought we would share some of the most trending ideas we have come across to help inspire your own Christmas decorating ideas for this year at home. Keep scrolling, and maybe grab an eggnog while you're at it!
1. Keep it minimalist like @malmo_and_moss
Oooh, this is exactly how we want to be doing Christmas decor this year! Becca over on @malmo_and_moss gets the perfect balance between being appropriately festive but still lovely and rustic and minimalist. To copy this look switch out the traditional spruce and berries for dried firs, flowers and grasses. Hunt your own garden for pieces you can start drying out now in time to get decorating in a few months.
2. Make a feature of your stairs like @its_all_about_the_house
If you don't decorate your stairs at Christmas you are missing a trick – they are a great place to add some extra festiveness plus create a gorgeous entrance to your home. Pinch this Christmas trend from @its_all_about_the_house and adorn your stairs with eucalyptus and paper decs.

3. Go to town on a mantle like @thehousethatjenbuilt_
Just like the stairs, a bare mantlepiece is a sad thing at Christmas. They are so easy to decorate too! Just head into the garden and see what festive folliage you can find and just start arranging it to cover the mantle. We can't promise it will look as regal as Jennifer's of @thehousethatjenbuilt_ but you can't really go wrong whatever you do. P.S Jennifer actually has an Instagram highlights dedicated to this garland so be sure to check that out if you want to see how she created it.
4. Be inspired by @comedowntothewoods to go colorful this Christmas
See Christmas can be colorful beyond red and green! Along with all the minimalist 'grown up' Christmas trends of the past few years, kitsch has been a massive one too. Check out Katie of @comedowntothewood's tree – It's fun and creative, yes there is tinsel and are those donut decorations we spy? Love it.

5. Pick a pastel color palette like @victoria_road_restoration
And another alternative to traditional Christmas decor is this gorgeous scheme by @victoria_road_restoration. We love the soft pastel pinks and pale greys, they look so fab against the dark dramatic backdrop of the blue walls. John Lewis actually have a theme going on this year called Renaissance and it fits perfectly with this look.
