You've probably already heard: the Dulux colour of the year has been announced for 2022. And this year it's aptly named Bright Skies. This gorgeous pale blue shade aims to bring the outside in, something we've all been wishing for over the past 18 months of lockdown after lockdown.
Already looking to buy a tin to redecorate your living room, paint a feature wall in your bedroom or refresh some of your furniture? Smart idea. But, for those who'd rather not whip their paintbrush out – perhaps you're not very DIY or maybe you rent? – we are here to help you incorporate this lovely colour into your home. Through anything from your kitchen appliances to bedding and lighting, that is. All while being on a budget, and keeping things slightly simple.
In other exciting news, a Bright Skies DFS sofa will soon be released in their Java range, which is also available in a swivel chair, armchair, footstool and more. Topps Tiles will also be releasing some Bright Skies tiles in their Flute range. Plus, Stoves have partnered with Dulux to create a Bright Skies coloured range cooker. Exciting stuff!

Perhaps near a Bright Skies coloured wall so that they blend in?

5. Dunelm's Luna Cushion Cover
Luna Cushion Cover | £5 at Dunelm
Cushions are a simple way to add colour to your home, whether that be pale blue, a bright yellow or a neutral beige. Buying lots of cushions also makes for a cosy looking bed or sofa, plus these can easily be switched around from room to room and used or stored away depending on the season. Dunelm's Luna cushion cover comes in a light blue colour that's undeniably similar to that of Dulux's Blue Skies. So, if you can't paint your living room wall this colour or switch up your sofa to be the new colour of the year, why not use cushions to spruce up your space? There's almost zero effort and a small amount of money required to do this, and this way your space will look bang-on-trend. Need we say more?
6. SMEG's KLF03 logo stainless steel kettle
SMEG KLF03 logo stainless steel kettle | £140 at Selfridges
Smeg's iconic kettle comes in two blue colourways, both of which are a light blue however one shade is slightly more vibrant than the other. We think that they both work pretty well with a Bright Skies colour scheme, so the choice is yours. This shade that's stocked at Selfridges is the more vibrant of the two, and we think it would look great bestowed on a kitchen countertop. Save up for the matching toaster and maybe fridge (one day, eh?) and you're all set.
7. Dunelm's Frea 30cm Drum Duck Egg Shade
Frea 30cm Drum Duck Egg Shade | £15 at Dunelm
How could we forget about lighting? To spruce up your bedroom or illuminate your living room, this pale blue lampshade is budget-friendly – and a fabulously close match to Bright Skies. It's made of cotton and can be used as a pendant light or in conjunction with a table lamp. Its cut out design will ensure it grabs attention, whilst we reckon it will do a great job in bringing some happiness to an otherwise plain room.
