Why is the Philips handheld garment steamer the perfect Christmas gift for just about anyone? Well, if you've ever travelled with clothes that crease in your luggage, you've probably thought something along the lines of, 'I wish had something to get those creases out...something portable and lightweight, but powerful, but not an iron...'.
Your prayers have been answered with the arrival of handheld clothes steamers, and these devices really are game changers where it comes to reviving clothes that have been cramped in a suitcase.
So, why is the Philips Steam&Go Plus so good? Let's start with the most important feature: the powerful crease removal. This really does the job very, very well; we've tried it on a wrinkled suit (a nightmare to de-crease, as anyone who's ever owned a suit will know), and it worked a treat.
There's no need to worry about it burning delicate fabrics, though: it's gentle even on materials such as wool and silk. Don't like ironing? This clever steamer also makes for a great alternative to traditional ironing at home.
What we also really like about this is that it takes no time at all to heat up and comes with a glove that will protect your hand from the hot steam. We're also thankful for the gender-neutral black colour version (give us black over pink any day).
The only thing to watch with this device is the small water tank – you might need to refill it halfway through steaming a large garment, but then it probably would have been too bulky to pack if it had a larger tank. The Philips Steam & Go typically retails for £65, but is £59.99 at Argos. We can't think of anyone who wouldn't make use of this.
