This is what a dream home looks like in 2021 (Hint: there's a fire pit)

Our tastes can vary when it comes to interiors, as even getting our other half on board with plans can pose a real challenge. But these award-winning designs have revealed what our collective dream home will look like in 2021.

Houzz, a leading platform for home renovation and design has shared its top picks for the Best of Houzz 2021 awards, and there are some stunning examples of design, and some major clues about the design features (and styles) we're all coveting this year.

Houzz, which is kind of LinkedIn for interior designers, home professionals and people looking to renovate, revealed the winners of its exclusive annual people’s choice award. The award showcased the renovation and design professionals who had the most popular designs and top ratings. 

Here are the rooms we all want most this year. We don’t know about you, but they’re giving us some serious house envy. 

Home offices with plenty of light (and style to spare) 

This winning home office presents a clever use of a carved out space by Perla Windows Ltd. The bright space with a vintage, leather-topped writing desk with plenty of surface space and drawers to stow paperwork looks like somewhere we could get our best work done. Plus the floor-length windows mean we wouldn’t feel totally cut off from the rest of the house. Looks like someplace we wouldn't mind WFH. 

Dining rooms that bring the outdoors in

This incredibly luxurious dining space with beautiful bespoke wood and resin table has been created by Janey Butler Interiors. The dining table is often viewed as the most important piece of furniture in the home, and this one is a real showstopper.  We're not surprised to see a live-edge table taking home a top prize either -- who doesn't want to bring the outdoors in at this point in the pandemic? 

Children's bedrooms that spark imagination

Kids rooms with enough whimsy an adventure to keep kids occupied for hours: This sounds like every parent's dream in 2020. It's exactly the sentiment this  cute children’s room by Slightly Quirky Ltd embodies, with a mezzanine study space, that makes use of the room’s height. We love the patterned head boards and the use of glass to allow light to flow around the space.

Utility room that blend form and function

Spending more time at home means we've learned the importance of good design, from both a form and function point of view. This utility room by Higham Furniture is super practical and somewhere we'd happily hang out once the chores are done. With grey shaker style cupboards and stylish gold hardware there's plenty of storage for keeping cleaning products organised. 

A dramatic cloakroom

Let's face it, we'd all welcome a little bit of drama into our lives right now, and if's via a bold cloakroom, so be it. Thissleek cloakroom with statement agate splashback, by dk INTERIORS is really striking. 

An epic garden, preferably with a fire pit
