TEMPUR-Topper Supreme mattress topper review
Rated our best mattress topper for side sleepers
As a side sleeper, I can definitely recommend this Tempur topper. The Tempur-Topper Supreme Mattress Topper changed the way my partner and I sleep throughout the night as its medium-firm surface provides the perfect amount of softness without that feeling of sinking that plagues other mattress toppers. It adjusted to our different shapes and weights, providing much-needed support plus comfort, and bonus — it’s easy to clean. Though do note it comes at a price tag, and it doesn't have straps. You'll also want to avoid it if you're a hot sleeper.

Why you can trust Real Homes
Yes, I've made the same grave mistake as you may have just made too: I bought a cheap mattress. I admit it, I thought I lucked out on a college student deal on my first mattress and I assumed my low budget would get me something decent. But, I was very wrong. So naturally, I naturally tried to remedy the situation by buying a standard memory foam mattress topper but that didn’t help much, either, because I didn't really know what I was buying. So, I went from an uncomfortable springy mattress to a topper that made me feel like I was being swallowed by my bed. It was then that I bit the bullet and thought I would try out a mattress topper from well-known luxury mattress brand, Tempur.
You guessed it: The Tempur-Topper Supreme Mattress topper is a purchase I certainly don't regret. This mattress topper has truly transformed my sleeping experience from deep discomfort to no longer stirring in the night. My partner and I wake up in the morning refreshed, and now we're adamant that the Tempur-Topper Supreme is one of the best toppers you can buy. But it does come at a price tag — and there are a few things we disliked, too.

This topper is crafted using the same foam as you'll find in Tempur-Pedic's mattress range, the proprietary Tempur material adapts to a person’s shape, weight, and temperature for the best in pressure relief, in a three-inch slab, wrapped in a washable hypoallergenic cover. So, if you've always wanted a Tempur mattress but can't commit to a size or you're living in a rental or dorm where there's already a mattress provided, then this is your second best bet.

TLDR: What I thought of the Tempur-Topper Supreme
I would absolutely recommend buying the Tempur-Topper Supreme. As someone who shares a bed with someone who sleeps in a different position and has a different firmness preference from me, I found that the topper suited us both. I woke up every morning dreading leaving my cocoon of comfort.
The Tempur-Topper Supreme is on the higher end for a foam topper price-wise. However, when you think about being able to experience the well-known Tempur Material sleep technology without having to purchase an entire mattress from the brand, it evens out. It adds a perfect level of softness and support and will instantly upgrade any uncomfortable mattress.
If you are looking for a mattress topper you can try out before committing, I recommend either another brand as you can't buy this one direct so there's no trial included. It also doesn't have straps to secure it to your mattress, so you'll need to straighten it out every time you change your sheets. If you are a hot sleeper, it's one I'd avoid, too, as it didn't prove itself to be any more cooling than our last topper.
Testing the Tempur-Topper Supreme
Hi, I'm Alex, a freelancer for Real Homes who is based in NYC. I've reviewed mattress toppers and air fryers, so far, and I slept on this Tempur topper with my partner for a good few weeks before reviewing it.
Sleep stats: • Sleep position: I tend to fall asleep on my side but will change positions throughout the night frequently (but will never sleep on my stomach) • Insomnia? None • Sleep problems: If I end up in an uncomfortable position while moving in the middle of the night, I sometimes won’t adjust and wake up with pain in my back, arms, or head • Average sleep time: Between 7 and 8 hours

Unboxing the Tempur-Topper Supreme
The topper ships directly to your door via FedEx (mine was purchased from Tempur-Pedic direct). The box is not light but one person can manage the trip from the front door to the bedroom as well as set it up alone.
After removing the outer box, which clearly states which size you got (in my case a Queen or QN), you get to the second box which houses the mattress topper. The box clearly tells you what level of fitness (medium) and the height in inches (3”) within.
The Tempur-Topper Supreme is compressed, rolled, and wrapped in protective plastic. After removing the plastic carefully, the topper begins to unroll and expand. I suggest releasing it from the wrapping on the mattress, especially if you’re just one person, so you can easily adjust it.
When I first placed the topper on my mattress I noticed that it was slightly off by half an inch. This isn’t necessarily an issue because once I placed the bottom sheet on the topper and mattress, I barely noticed the slight irregularity in dimensions. If you buy this three-inch mattress topper, I recommend buying deeper pocket sheets to account for that extra height.
Is the Tempur-Topper Supreme comfortable?
The first thought that came into my head when I first laid down on this topper was that I could take a nap right then and there. This is because the topper immediately adjusts to your body and weight, striking the perfect balance between supported and snuggled. On my back, the Tempur-Topper Supreme changed to contour the bottom half of my body, making sure my back had the support it needed to sleep comfortably.
I tend to be a side sleeper (specifically on my right side) and when I was sleeping on my previous softer topper (memory foam too), my entire body would sink, creating a massive crater in my bed that was slow to return to its original position. The Tempur-Topper Supreme molds around your body and prevents sinking which characterizes many memory foam mattress toppers.
One of my favorite aspects of the Tempur-Topper Supreme is how quickly the topper adjusts around you if you change positions in the middle of the night. As someone who shares a bed with a significant other who wakes up early, I barely feel it when he gets up.
The Tempur-Topper Supreme does not come with straps to ensure it doesn’t move on the mattress. After using it for a month, I noticed the topper had slid off the mattress a couple of inches. But that was after a whole month of not adjusting, something you can do very easily every time you change your sheets. A couple of inches did not make a difference to sleep quality. I didn't even notice it had moved till the bottom sheet came off.
Overall, the Tempur-Topper Supreme mattress topper delivered on its promises.
Is the Tempur-Topper Supreme breathable and cool?
I tend to run cold and my partner runs hot. While I am satisfied with how I sleep on the Tempur-Topper Supreme, someone like my partner may want to instead look at a specific cooling mattress topper as neither of us noticed that it was particularly cooling in comparison to the basic topper we had on before.
Tempur-Pedic claims that its material is better than ordinary memory foam, in that its “precision-engineered cellular structure immediately and precisely adapts to your weight, shape, and temperature.” While I agree on the weight and shape aspects of that claim, my partner's experience, as well as reviews I found on Reddit, suggests that the topper doesn’t adjust to temperature as well as the company claims.
An amazing thing about this topper is that it has a washable cover. The Tempur-Topper Supreme should never be washed or dry cleaned but the removable cover can be washed in cold water and left to air dry, or popped on a dry cool setting. Chlorine products or harsh stain removers should be avoided. The cover fits around the topper snugly, but not too tight where it’s difficult to remove and fit it over the topper again.
Is this the right mattress topper for you?
The Tempur-Topper Supreme is no longer available to buy direct from TEMPUR. It is available at Wayfair. Because of this, there is unfortunately no trial period when you buy this topper — but it does come with a 10-year warranty.
Seeing as my topper was shipped direct from Tempur, and knowing their no-return policy, I wondered what would happen if Tempur-Pedic shipped the wrong size of the Tempur-Topper Supreme. After an unhelpful conversation with one of their chat customer service agents, I called customer service and someone was able to answer my question. If the company ships the wrong size, the purchaser can exchange it for the right size. This is true even if it has been opened, although the process becomes more complicated.

Real Homes' Review Process
There's much more to how we test mattresses (and toppers) ICYWW, but for a brief overview, our mattress topper testers are all required to sleep on their bed with the new product for a minimum of three to four weeks before reaching their verdict, testing the topper according to a strict brief. This allows Real Homes to compare and contrast their mattress topper experiences to find the best product. During the review, we will pay close attention to comfort, support, cost, and how it lives up to claims. We will also choose a reviewer depending on how they sleep, and we will ensure that this matches the type of topper we give them.
